Dr. Katherine A. Neumann
Dr. Neumann joined AMC Wheaton in 2019.
Dr. Neumann grew up in the Downers Grove area and earned her veterinary degree from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. While working on her undergraduate degree, she conducted behavioral research on sun bears at a local zoo and then at the University of Illinois managed a team of volunteers at the University’s wildlife clinic. Upon graduation she spent the next few years working in fast paced clinics in both the western and southern suburbs of the Chicagoland area. As she started her family, she moved to a practice that allowed her to be spend more time with her family.
Dr. Neumann manages care of both cats and dogs with an interest in internal medical, allergies/dermatology, pain management, nutritional health and dentistry. Her overall goal is to work with the pet parent(s) to create a plan to provide their pet the best quality of life and create a long-term relationship. Being engaged with her clients and understanding their needs helps her provide the best quality of care.
She also completed a certification program in June of 2024 at the Healing Oasis in Sturtevant Wisconsin for Veterinary Massage and Rehabilitation Therapy (cVMRT). The goal of this program is to teach veterinarians skills to help improve a patient's functional mobility and to improve pain control through different modalities including therapeutic exercise. Dr. Neumann became passionate about rehabilitation medicine after she personally faced illness in 2018. Physical therapy (i.e. rehabilitation) helped her return to full function. After that experience, she wanted to do the same for her patients.
When not working, Dr. Neumann enjoys spending time with her two little boys, the family’s terrier mix, and her husband. She loves spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, baking and enjoys any fall activities.
